Free People Inspiration

All of these are from the Free People March catalog. They just so happen to be my favorites, believe me I would post the entire thing up here if I could. You can shop the catalog online here.

Also, the Free People blog is one of my favorite sources of inspiration. Here are two looks showcased in this entry.

Enjoy and happy Tuesday,

Mara Hoffman

(Photo found on Google Images)

A few weeks ago when I first saw this dress I absolutely fell in love. As aforementioned in this post, I'm obsessed with eyeballs. So, when I saw this little number which is the perfect combination of tribal patterns, colors, and an eyeball I instantly became obsessed with finding out the designer: Mara Hoffman.

These pieces by Hoffman come from Planet Blue.

I think it's safe to say that I've found my new favorite designer.

Apple of my Eye

Here are some things I got at Michael's craft store today: feathers to make my own type of feather extensions (ha, who am I kidding, right?), a beautiful turquoise pendant, and eyeball stickers - because if you don't know, I'm obsessed with eyeballs.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the eyeball stickers, but I've found one use for them already!

And here I am sporting a pair of earrings I bought the other day from JC Penney. When I first saw them I just loved the unique shapes of them but my mom was saying they looked like a military patch or something. Then the other night at work, an old man was asking me about them and asking if my dad was in the military. Oh well, I still think they're cool looking besides their obvious military-esque aspect.

Who else loves Seneca Rising?

Duncan Top $69 (also comes in coral)

I've loved Seneca Rising ever since I got one of their pieces in a Free People store this past summer. These are my favorite pieces from Planet Blue's new Seneca Rising Spring 2011 collection. I think it's pretty clear that I am craving more white in my wardrobe for the coming months.

I want you all to know that your comments are what keep me going! I really appreciate them more than words can describe.

Old and New

I know that I have a giant collection of old magazines, as I'm sure a lot of people do, that I can never get rid of. I find myself periodically going through them and tearing out my favorite editorials/ads so here are some of my favorite older magazine pages.

Apparently this one is from Elle, since it says so in the top left corner. Betsey Johnson is such a cool, unique designer and I religiously buy her perfume. I love how they combined all of her interesting, beautiful products into one photo here.

From the feel of this page, I believe it was from an old H&M catalogue. I just love the peacock feathers and I feel that it's such a nice inspiration board.

These photos make me miss summer and want to go on a road trip. I just have always found them so lovely. By the way, they are from Seventeen magazine from July 2004 (notice the tag in the bottom right corner)! Wow!

Remember when MIA modeled fro Marc Jacobs? I've never been a really big fan of Marc Jacobs but I am in love with MIA - her look, her music, her attitude - so it made me extra giddy each time I'd flip open a magazine to see her in it.

This last old one is for Meg because she is obsessed with anything American flag, at least clothing wise. I thought it was so pretty how they made that vest!

Now here are some new photos, from the most recent Teen Vogue and Nylon. I noticed that both of them featured Georgia May Jagger, and I think she looks so beautiful in both shoots. I love her gap in the front of her teeth, little quirks like that are my favorite.

And lastly (because this post wasn't quite long enough) here is a photo of me dancing to Waka Waka by Shakira, and being happy about how long my hair has gotten!

What does anyone else do with their old ripped out magazine pages? I need some interesting way to store them!

Tendencies.

One of my worst tendencies includes cutting my bangs when I am unhappy with them. Though I am happy to say that after a long long month of having to pin them back because I chopped them, they have finally grown back in so that I can wear them normal again! I was so excited that I felt it necessary to take an outfit photo. Which leads me to my second worst tendency, wearing all new items together. I just bought these two shirts last night, and of course I ended up pairing them together. It's like I can't wait a few days to wear each separately, I hate it! But, oh well.

T-Shirt: Behave
Button up tank worn as vest: BB Dakota
Jeans: BDG
Belt: Mom's
Necklace: Forever 21

Layering

Just a quick outfit for today: Free People crop top layered over a lace tank I got from TJ Maxx with BDG jeans and a necklace I scored at a yard sale a few years ago.

Deals.

Alright, I realize that these photos are really bad (phone) quality, but this is about the closest thing I'll be doing to a personal post for now. My Macy's doesn't carry a lot of my favorite brands, so usually when brands that my location doesn't carry are returned to that store, they put them all together. Lucky for me, I found the jackpot the other day.

This beautiful Free People top has panels of lace and crochet, and beading detail. It was originally $70, I got it for $34.

This Intimately FP bodycon dress was originally $68, got it for $15!

Material Girl by Madonna bodycon dress, originally $14, got it for $7.50

And the drumroll...a gorgeous FP jacket originally $128, I got it for $15! Yes, it's quite large on me (for a medium?) but with all the cash I saved I can certainly afford to get it taken in.

Cheers,
Meliss

Black&Yellow? How about Black&White.

There's just something about black and white that always catches my attention. Whether it's due to the timeless color scheme or the undying classy look that it achieves, I always find myself drooling over this quintessential combo. All of these wonderful picks come from the boutique Planet Blue.

This gorgeous dress takes a cool aztec print and pairs it with stripes! Mixing prints is one of my favorite things to do, lately, and this dress does it in a nicely subtle way. Not surprisingly, it is currently sold out, but here's to hoping that it'll come back in stock!

You can never go wrong with stripes, and this dress throws the classic stripe for a spin. I just love the way the stripes meet at different angles in the front and create a rouched-up look. This is definitely a unique piece that you won't be finding in any Forever 21 this season.

This gorgeous button down is another item that has me kicking myself when seeing that it is, indeed, sold out as well! Its deep v-neck front balances out the rest of the masculine shape and hat that they paired it with. I love the accessibility of this top, it's something that you can wear exactly like how the model did for a casual day, paired with heels and a statement necklace for a night out, or with slacks and a black blazer for work.
